The only thing you can do is remember that if you have had 4 super night's sleep, you will have more. Decorating is a good idea. I either clean the skirting boards or watch trash on Netflix/Amazon.

Love to you too xx

It really might be something you ate. apple onion garlic or all sorts of things you used to consider healthy. Healthy for some perhaps but maybe not for you. Keep a really detailed food diary, stop caffiene from today, change to lactose free milk and no ice cream Then tonight search this site for FODMAP and consider trying 12 weeks of FODMAP diet to see if the symptoms go away or diminish. The diet doesn't cure RLS but it can stop the symptoms in some lucky people.

Check with your doctor before being on the diet too long but in the meantime you may as well try some of the above.

Good Luck

Let us know if you no longer have time to paint the ceiling! (Because you're sleeping)

I'm just curious, have you tried the low fodmap diet?

The FODMAP diet has given me back my life I had RLS for 50 years I think the FODMAP diet gave me about 80% relief and then I tried the low chemical diet and I regularly sleep for 10 consecutive nights and only have a problem when I try other foods to challenge the diet so I can determine what chemicals are triggering the RLS

I am one of the lucky ones. It might not last but while it does I will enjoy it.

Cheers

Graham

That's really good to hear. I've been on the low fodmap diet for about 3 months now. Initially I had great success and was getting 95% relief. Unfortunately I have made 3 mistakes which has stretched out the recovery process but I have gotten super super strict as of lately and right now I have about 80% relief. Should have 100% relief in a week hopefully. Good for you Graham we sure are the lucky ones

Hi,

Funny that onion nor garlic effects me! Not too sure about turmeric though as I find that triggers my rls. I do too follow low foodmap diet but experimenting with it as there are different triggers for each of us.

If I were you I'd only eat foods that are completely safe. It's not really a low fodmap diet if you're eating onion or garlic, regardless of the effect it has on you. Other people on this website may be discouraged to try the diet when they see you have tried it and not achieved any results.

Well I have started with low foodmap diet but I slowly introduced some food from the list to see if it is actually working! So it is trial and error. Did I stop people following the diet? How? What I am saying is I thought it worked well till I introduced some food then found that not everything on that list is a trigger for me.

That's my experience and I would never stop anybody trying anything. It might not work for me but might do for others.

Glad it is working for you.

Oh no not at all. My main concern was if lots of people try the diet, but don't fully commit to it, they will most likely not achieve any results. If all of these people are commenting that the diet did not work, then someone new to the forum may think "hmm, all these people haven't had success with it, so I think I'll skip it". Honestly I wouldn't do trial and error until I've been completely symptom free for a few months. I am going to be 100% calm legged by next week most likely but the stomach needs time to heal before exposing it to other foods so I won't test certain foods till august most likely. Are you getting any results?

I get where you are coming from but I really think everyone is in their own battle here. They will try what is best for them under GP supervision. It doesn't matter if I say foodmap didn't work for me. I understand you though. I am glad I tried things that i wasn't allowed from the list otherwise I wouldn't know if it was working for me or not.

Like I said we are all different and doing our best to live our lives with rls :)

Anyway, so good to know you are getting back on track.

All the best,

B.
