I slept all night last night! By that I mean 7 1/2 hours of glorious sleep! Don't know why just so glad.
That's all, carry on! 😉

Long it may continue!

Of course it's just prior to my appointment to my Dr. as I hate the side effects of carbadopa levadopa....sigh....
I'm hoping it's the addition of the Iron Plus patch I've been wearing.
Wouldn't that be fantastic!
But still I slept! 😕🙃
What kind of iron are you taking may I ask? I talked to my doctor about taking 20mg of ferrous bicglyknate and he said too low and to just take 65mg of ferrous sulfate twice a day
I had gastric bypass surgery 10 years ago so I'm using a topical patch from Patch Md called Iron Plus (in US). It has 3500 IU vitamin A, 250 mg vitamin C & the iron is 45 mg as bisglycinate. I also get more iron thru a gastric bypass multi vitamin which I chew.
I know most of you are from the UK and I have seen other brands listed. I also take a sublingual B12.
I have blood levels taken tomorrow and will be updating my new Iron levels because at my initial appointment I had basically no iron in my levels!
Ok thank you. That then is another person taking this kind of iron but my doctor wants me to try 130mg per day. Do you think it is really helping? Is the iron patch the only RLS medicine you take?
So far I do! I'll know more after I get my blood test results back.
No. I take Carbadopa Levadopa. Hate it! I live in a fog and never leave the house because I'm always tired and confused. That too will change at my appointment!
Ferrous sulfate doesn't absorb into the blood stream the way iron bisglycinate does. I was on 325 mgs of iron for years--it did nothing. The first time I took 28 mgs of iron bisglycinate at bedtime with 8 oz of orange juice--essential to take w/OJ it enhances the absorption -- I haven't had any not one incident of RLS. Plus I have been able to titration down from 12 mg ER Ropinerole to now 4 mgs. Going to try to get off it altogether. I swear iron bisglycinate is the magic bullet. Try it. Do take it with some crackers and even a little cheese as it can cause a mild tummy ache on an empty stomach.
There is an over the counter med in the US called Vitron C. It's iron plus vitamin C in a tablet. But it is Elemental Iron as carbonyl iron and I don't know how that compares to the other irons.
Ok thank you. Sounds good to me. I will give it a go.
Hate to ask yet another question but I was wondering how long u have to wear the patch. 8 hours? Did you get relief right away like Jphicks?
Yes, 8 hours. I've been using it for 4 nights. I'm sure it takes a bit to get the levels up but does seem to help. Hoping it's not a placebo. Wait. Don't care! If it helps it helps!
I'll update you when my levels are in and I talk to the Doctor
By the way, the other reason I like the patch is because I've never been able to tolerate iron orally. Makes me so nauseous. The patch is such a help in that regard also!
brilliant
I had a night like that. Felt wonderful. Try to think back to what you ate or drank, or rather what you didn't eat or drink, which you normally consume regularly. I did that and initially thought it was bread, but even though the RLS eased when I gave up eating bread, I did have a few bad nights, so I thought 'what do I have with bread?', 'margarine'. That was it almost every margarine contains E202 artificial preservative. It's also used in other wet foods, like dips, spreads and sauces.
