I'm climbing the walls tonite. I realized I forgot to take my Mirapex for the last two nights. Waiting for the meds to kick in now. I can't even imagine weaning myself off.

Bad night so far
You only realise the value of medication when you forget to take it. Last week I didn't take Tramulief and had Zapain instead. My legs were all over the place and at 1am I took a Tramulief and they settled down. Then also last week I couldn't understand why me legs were so painful. I had forgotten my Gabapentin!
So I don't forget to take any of my RX's I bought a pill box that has the 7 days plus slots for morning, afternoon, evening & night. I keep all my RX's together & fill the box once a week. I have been doing this for year's & it's very helpful if your well organized. Hope this helps you not to forget to take your RX's , Good Luck.
Forgetting to take your Mirapex will have set your dopamine receptors into overdrive as they were wondering where the dopamine was that you have been taking with the Mirapex. This is what happens if you went cold turkey when getting off a dopamine med. So, thats why a strong pain med is needed when coming off a dopamine med and you wean down very very slowly. Set your alarm so you dont forget again.
Hi hope you are doing better. It's really hard for all of us. I tried to drop my Meripex and I lasted one night didn't sleep at all I thought I was going to climb the walls I could not get any relief standing or in any position I could be in. I was taking 1 mg almost 2 mg of Meripex. I am taking .75 now and it is extended release Meripex and it works lots better. I'm trying to drop it completely through diet and exercise and vitimin supplements. May take me a year but I sleep better and I don't have as much augmentation unless I eat late and I try not to do that. I eat light for supper always and early before 6:00. Another thing is I feel like since I take less now my body responds better to the medicine and I know that sounds weird but it works better. I can't wait for the day I can drop all of it and go the natural way on handling my RLS through diet exercise and vitimin supplements. Hope for all of us someday that we can have relief from RLS.
I know exactly how that feels. I used to live in dread of my ropinirole tablets ever stopping working, then they did and I suffered severe augmentation. I went through the horror of withdrawal ( 3/4 nights without any sleep and constant RLS eveywhere) and am still trying to find an alternative med. I'm also trying diet, neuro exercises and supplements in the hope that something works.
At the moment I'm getting about 6 hours a night over a 12 hour period, and never more than 2 hrs at a time.
If the Mirapex is working and you are not going through augmentation, then keep taking it but maybe see if you can manage on a lower dose so that augmentation doesn't happen for a long time hopefully.
I wish you sleep and rest in the future,
Jools
Has anyone here tried Vicks vapour rub? Iv`e read that some people get relief by rubbing it on their legs. I`m going to buy some today & see if it works.
I use deep freeze spray for my RLS, when it plays up in the night. it has menthol in it and its the menthol that numbs my leg and stops the sensations and my leg from moving. It doesnt work all night but its one of my "tricks" to use to get some sleep. Anything which has menthol in the ingredients is what you need .
