That's quite a high dose to start on. I would check with your doctor first. He will start you at a low dose at first. Pramipexol is not now considered to be first treatment because of inevitable augmentation. But better than nothing depending on how much your Dr knows about treating rls

Please check the articles on rlsuk. on meds to use and avoid. Also rlshelp.org and follow references.

Good luck.

You will fix it- it just takes a bit of research and trial to get the relief for your personal case.

Get your Dr to prescribe pramipexole or similar , it should help . You should get a referral to a neurologist as well but prob a long wait on nhs ,good luckl

Go on the RLS website print some basic information, go to GPS say you have been reading articles. Medication varies from person to person. One of the leaflets takes about different medication. Write down how you feel & all your symptoms. I often find it can forget things I want to ask GPS good luck to you hope you get sorted soon. I have Ropinirole it has worked for me. Wow Cap I'm sorry you are having such a rough time! :(

I'm having some luck recently with a few things I've been trying that I'd like to share with you. Hopefully some of these ideas or others you will find on here will help.

The first relief came when I started massaging two specific muscles on the bottom of my feet. These muscles are the abductor hallucis and the flexor hallucis brevis. I learned about these a couple of weeks ago when I was reading about the newly FDA approved RLS device called Restiffic. It works by massages these two muscles. I massage them with my hand-held pulsating showerhead with the water at full power.

Then I scrub the bottoms of my feet and also my calves very vigorously with a spa scrubber - I scrub them til they tingle. And after my bath I hand-massage the soles of my feet and my calves with a cream I found on Amazon called Restless Leg Calming Cream - again, rubbing very vigorously until it is all absorbed. I've nearly used up one container and just ordered another one.

The last thing I've added is Tonic Water (because it has Quinine). I used to take Quinine by prescription until the FDA took it off the market and it worked very well for me.

I'm not sure which of these is doing the most good or maybe it's a combination of them all, but the RLS is no longer keeping me from falling asleep or waking me up during the night.

Well, there is a bit more to my story. I'm nearly three months into Opiate withdrawal (by myself at home) and the worse part of withdrawal is RLS magnified x 10000! So some of my recent relief could be that I'm pass that phase of the withdrawal. However, I've had RLS for nearly 20 years so I'm hopeful that the steps I'm taking will end my RLS for good!

Btw, the only medication I'm on is Ropinerole but I'm weaning myself off because it seemed to quit working.

In my reply above to CAP11_BIO I missed two other steps that may be contributing to my recent RLS relief. One is Epson Salt baths. I soak in a nice hot for at least 20 minutes to absorb the magnesium. The other is leg compression. After I massage my calves with the RLS cream I put on long tight socks and wear them overnight. They are not actual compression socks but just tight enough so I can feel them. Again, I don't know which of these steps I described are helping or maybe each is helping some but this combination is giving me the relief I so badly needed. :)

Iv tried everything, magnesium spray, cool gels, epsom salt baths, halcyon bracelets, exercise, then iv tried medication, 3 different types, quinine, pramipexole and currently im on raphinerole, each one eventually becomes less effective, friday nite i was walkin my dog at 4.30am because my legs were so unsettled, a friend told me she suffered bad rls and it was dwn to low iron in her system, after being put on iron supplements she hasnt suffered rls since, mayb speak to ur doctor about this, i did and my iron was low but i need a colonoscopy as they think this is due to inflammatory bowl disease, try some of the methods spoke about on here and hopefully ul find one that works for u, we r all different and wot works for one wont work for another.

Good luck xx

I have suffered from RLS my whole life (63yrs). Only found relief using Tramadol and Requip or the generic version Ropinirole. You will need to see a doctor in order to get them, but I guarantee that once you take them you will be able to rest peacefully. I have been told that some people have a hard time with these drugs when they first take them. But once you get used to them there is nothing else in the world that can take away your pain as well as they do.

Aren't you lucky you're only 29?😇 and have plenty of time to try out all those ideas!😆

Seriously - good luck. And come back if none of that works.

Don't take iron untill you get medical advice and blood test.

Mind yourself.

What have you tried so far?

There are plenty of options and people have been on effective treatments for 30 years and still going.

Not all is lost!

There is an article by Dr Buchfuerer on RLS treatment and Augmentation - try rlshelp.org .

Cheers.
