Knee replacement and RLS

I wondered if any fellow sufferer has gone through a TKR?

What are your experiences?

I have decided to go ahead with mine on 21 January and find the prospect of lying in bed, post op and getting a bad attack of RLS a bit daunting.

(Right now, on a bad day, I am never quite sure if the pains in my leg are from the arthritis or RLS!)

Hi Scottie, I havent had knee or hip replacements. But want to tell you to tell the hospital that anti-nausea meds which they give you when they put you out can make for most RLSers worse and that is one of the reasons many people come round from a op and find their RLS is driving them nuts. Look on the rlshelp.org treatment page which gives info on the anti-nausea meds. You should be given pain meds post op which should help as pain meds are known to give relief also what ever RLS meds you are taking right now that are working. Not sure, but i am almost sure they dont keep you in bed for long as they want you to get mobile as soon as possible. Good luck.!
