\We are all different and pain can be felt differently. Personally speaking I would listen to a Dr more so than a friend who had a SIMILAR experience.
I've had two knee ops and both were for the same thing but the two knees actually felt different, same sort of pain in area that the problem existed but I was able to move one better than the other and the pain in one went to my ankle but stayed in the knee in the other.
Hi cazy
I am sorry to hear that you are waiting for a knee replacement and are suffering somewhat. I have had two total knee replacements, two years apart and did not suffer like you describe.
Here is a symptom checker to see if you think you may be suffering from RLS as we all do on this forum, to a lesser or greater degree.

Hi - I have severe RLS, PLMD and I am awaiting a total knee replacement (hopefully this year). They are totally different pains and in time you will be able to tell the difference. When they are both 'active' it is difficult because you are just in agony. Really hard to describe but I will have a go. The knee pain is a deep ache in and around the knee and mine is often shooting down the shin. RLS on the other hand seems to be more an irritation, fidgety surface pain where you cannot find a resting place. I take neuro patches 2 mugs for the RLS and tramadol for the knee. But be very careful with tramadol - I take 4 X 50 mugs a day. (Last year taking 12 a day, addicted and not actually getting much relief). Less sometimes has more impact. I am also a big believer in ice packs and heat for both and always have an ice pack on the go in the freezer and use those wheat bags that you put in the microwave for heat. Hope this helps. I have also found exercise a huge help. 45 minutes cardio on a recumband cycle which doesn't put weight on your joints and various weights which build strength and supporting muscles. 3 or 4 times a week. Hope this helps. Hazel
Like Karrina I had a total knee replacement in April this year prior to which my pain and discomfort was very much confined to the knee itself, as described by hazelrobson. As a RLS sufferer I agree with hazelrobson's descriptions.
Here's a bit of good news> For some reason or other my RLS attacks are far less frequent post operation..
Hi,
I have had both knees replaced, my Right knee has caused me a lot of pain, I & worry, though I am pleased I had it done as I used to have to have it drained & a steroid injection every few weeks. My Left knee is much better & I am pleased that I had it done. Ian still not as mobile as I would like to be, but for pain relief it was worth having them done. My mum is having her Left knee replaced next month & she is a little worried because of how I am.
You will likely to feel much fitter when you have it done and everyone is different, don't listen to what other people say do what you think is right for you.
