All i can say is i have never ever yet heard of anyone here in the UK who has or is using methadone for their RLS. Not saying they dont. But not heard of anyone. I do know it is used by some doctors in the USA.
Other is at least one person that l do know that belongs to this group that is seriously considering this drug. I am another. In reading these comments from actual users, l can't see why it wouldn't,t be a good choice for myself or someone who has much pain along with rls. If the drug is taken only as prescribed, it should work.
Nope i havent got anything against it if people need to use it. I know Dr, B uses it for some of his patients. Any med if taken only as prescribed and kept to that, should work and not cause problems. But, as i belong to other RLS groups, i have seen people who have tried methadone and get good results, and some who its made them ill. So, as with any meds, its what suits you.
Pain specialists are more in tune with pain than go. Sadly, you prob need to see one.
I am doing well at present on my mix of meds.I take low dose combination of 3 meds which help me keep down my dopamine med, to try to avoid augmentation for as long as possible. X
When I heard about a woman I "talk "with doing really well on methadone ( in US) , I told my GP about it.His face was a picture ! No chance whatsoever x
I tried methadon for RLS during three months 2013 before I got my morphine pump. I went sick from methadon, could not stand it att all wich was a pity because it is rather kind to the body, actually.
i dont think i would concider it. too many what ifs.
I tried methadone. Other than all the horrible side effects, it was completely useless.
Maybe we need to have a discussion on the classification of the drugs and how they work in the body? Seems like so many are afraid of drugs or call them "bad" because of what their parents told them. There are excellent uses even for so called bad drugs when you have pain or restlessness or anxiety.. these are real diseases and the drugs are real that treat them...we all dislike "high" side effect of all drugs. I am included.. Uppers and downers do have a place in medicine. We all need to accept it as a group.
