Has anyone tried reflexology? For me neither diazepam nor Xanax are working any more. I know I'm only taking 0.5mg but I really really don't want to get onto that cycle by increasing the dosage. I didn't sleep until 4am this morning and now I feel "zonked" so I'm going to try reflexology.

Reflexology
Hi, I tried reflexology for back pain but didnt work.Have you tried gabapentin, pregablin or any of the dopamine drugs, or painkillers such as tramadol?
I'm terrified of getting addicted, p1pp1ns, that's my problem
How often are you getting bad nights? X
Almost every night, p1pp1ns. I'm having trouble falling asleep. I go to bed tired but within a few minutes I "wake" and RLS kicks in and can last several hours.
The Diazepan is addictive. As far as I know the dopamines, pregablin, gabapentin are not addictive .I started on meds around 8 years but had rls for over 30 years.Became severe probably 10 years ago. X
Thanks p1pp1ns. You've been on the meds for 8 years? Wow! I think I have to re-visit my doctor. I'm scared of getting addicted, but if there are others that could help me sleep and control the RLS (without making it worse, which the anti-depressants did) then I'd run to them I'm sorry you have RLS too, but I hope you manage to control it.
For me, dopamines seem next to impossible for me to get off ot. I took a 10- month break.. I still want it in my plan.
Hi Suemont
If you type in Reflexology in "Search HealthUnlocked" at the top of the page, there is another thread where someone is asking about it with regards to RLS.
Kaarina
Yea tried it dident work waist of money
Sadly it didn't work for me either.x
Nobody actually knows what causes RLS, so whatever works to stop it, is what is best for you. Young people who have it already must be more careful than us older folks, because of addiction and how long each compound is expected to be affective,
I take 2mg of requip twice a day and 5mg of methadone at 5 pm every day to keep the dreaded feeling from ever starting. If the drugs make you have bad dreams or won't let you sleep, then that drug is not for you, but if it takes a sleepless night to get you started on the right path, then suffer once to get straight after that.
There may be multiple causes, so there will be multiple treatments (not cures). good luck!
Thanks everyone - I'll check the other thread. I tend to get RLS with anxiety. Some anti-depressant drugs that I was prescribed in the past made RLS worse. I'm hoping now to get weaned off all anti-anxiety and anti-depressants (slowly) and so I'm looking for alternatives, hopefully more natural ones. I had an hour of reflexology yesterday and it felt delicious (can't say it helped RLS though, nor helped me sleep last night - but it's early days as they say).
Working with that one right now.. reflexology, that is. It has helped some if the problem is pain. I don't know about restlessness or "that urge to move'
