I had to go over to Amazon to see what those pills are...People are using them

for heaviness of the legs, swollen legs, tired and aching legs...Not sold where

I live in the USA..but is a British Product, sold there. =O Well, that's that.

Flaven is the active ingredient which is a red leaf plant..It's an antioxidant

that works from the inside of the leg veins....I took that from the box...and

they add that it can lower the blood pressure, it helps with circulation...

I can't tell if this is considered a supplement, a vitamin or if it is a proven medicine..

It says that trials went on but I don't know who sponsored it or if the testing was

even done as the FDA tests...It's one of those products that people take a chance

on and maybe it will help, maybe not... I dislike that part that they claim that it will

lower blood pressure..I would run this one by your doctor before starting it...it has

some very questionable results..that blood pressure thing bothers me a lot.

I always tell my kids that if those things really worked, without a doubt, it would be

all over on television, in the newspapers, on the radio given that rls affects so many

people..I read that close to 10% have some form of it. Hello investors, there is money

to be made here!!!

I started taking Antistax a few months ago for heavy legs which I was at my wit's end to walk normally without almost slowly dragging my feet. Within a week, I saw an improvement had have walked normally since. Also, my ankles no longer swell if I take it regularly. If I miss a few days, they swell again. Now the thing is - I've suffered from high blood pressure for over 20 years and take 2 meds to keep it under control. Lately, my BP is lower than it's ever been, borderline low. I'll be seeing my Dr in a few days, but I already talked to him about Antistax and he knows nothing about it. My druggist checked for me if there was interaction with my meds and he found nothing. However, I should now (I presume) cut down on my BP meds.

I haven't read anywhere that Antistax lowers BP.

Anybody else have similar experience with Antistax?

Thank you Yikes I appreciate your opinion, my niece gave me a pack to try but am hesitant. !! <My main health problem is Asthma and Bronchiiectasis for many years which is mostly controlled.

in reply tojubilee

Jubilee..you have to make really good informed medical choices

because your immune system is not what it should be with Asthma

and Bronchiectasis..I am encouraging you to have a doctor consult..

Mostly controlled? So I bet you are coughing a lot..and have a tight

chest..Have you started any kind of treatment for RLS? My memory

fails me if you told me that...if not, I will tell you something very important..

There is treatment for RLS..sometimes the medication dosage is

something that you need to change until you find what works..Elisse

and I break our pills in pieces so we can customize the dose yet have

enough of it if we get out of control with rls symptoms..I just read her

post and was like "oh wow, I do the same thing -break up my pill"

Another thing that people do is that they split up their dose..I have to

do that if I go to a movie, a concert or church..I know that sitting will

be a challenge so I take my Pramipexole..quarter dose ot half dose..

and I can make it through the show and still have some left for

night time...it doesn't have a very long half-life..you will have the

effects of the pill for about 6-10 hours..some metabolize it faster

or slower..the bad part in taking the pills is that the next day it can

make you feel kinda out of it or like you have a tired hangover...

So now the big question is How are you treating your RLS and

what things did you try that worked/ didn't work/ worked for a time..?

Did a doctor diagnose you with rls and/ or something else dealing

with the legs? Don't ever feel that you must share with everyone..

but you can let us know so we can help you get going on a treatment

plan..We are all ears here too if you need to vent. =)

I know I have RLS as my Mother had it and sadly my son has it too. My GP gave me Amitriptyline but am hesitant as being on steroids and a/biotics a lot. .The RLS is there every evening and at times in the night quite bad so I take co-codamol and/or a hot bath and it works for me. I know what you mean about the theatre or cinema! I do cough a lot and wheeze and its embarrassing but family and friends understand I have a friend with bad COPD and listening to her I just count MY blessings

How old is your son? I'm asking because as a child I was

punished in school for having antsy legs. I used to get up a lot.

My parents sent me to my room for the rest of the day when my RLS acted up in church..They had no idea back then what it was..I am 47. I had some trouble in the 5th -7th grade..I grew a little bit faster then and my legs kind of ached, but I had to move them so much and was so busy trying to keep them still that I didn't really listen or participate in my classes..being

shy back then really didn't help manner.Classmates thought that I was dumb, I thought..and teachers used to ask me what was going on at home that made me be that way...I would not budge to tell my parents what was happening..I was so embarrassed of myself..I take steroid injections for my RA.. they are a lifesaver..I never am bad off so far with RA..I have

never had Amitriptyline..it's showing excellent results according to the John Hopkins teaching hospital. in the USA

where I live...I know of one other person on our forum that has

recently started with Amitriptyline..unfortunately I can't share

who the person is...but maybe they will see this post and talk

with you about it.. Let me know if you decide to take it..I bet

that if the doctor prescribed it and the doctor knows that you

take steroids, they checked it out and it's safe..but one nice

gentleman told me to always follow my gut..he is 79 yrs old..

and if your gut says "no way" then ask for something else..

I use Pramipexole and the results can be remarkable for me..

still I have breakthrough RLS because I am trying to cut down on the amount I take..I was on 1mg - fairly high dosage..

Look for anyone on this site to talk things over with.. and I

do wish you the very best health that pills can give you. =DDD. (me laughing) Have a great rest of the weekend..
