Thats fantastic, you're almost up to your first month! How long did you smoke for? If it was for a number of years, then it's no wonder you still think about and feel that you want cigarettes. They have probably been a part of your life through the good days and the bad days...

When you start to think about cigarettes, focus on the positives. Think about how long you have succeeded in stopping. Take 5 minutes out for yourself and maybe try some breathibng exercises... Here's a quick one for you; Sit in a comfortable chair and rest your hands in your lap. Close your eyes and begin breathing out slowly with a slight sigh. Breath in and out, very slowly. repeat two or three times. As you breathe out, imagine the tensions slipping away. Feel yourself relax.

Well done Linda, you must be really proud of yourself.

Thanks EmJay...I am 62yrs old and started smoking aged 16yrs, apart from giving up a couple times in between...once for 3yrs and then again for 3months, but this time Im determined not to start again...I will try the breathing exercises....I also put the money ive saved to one side and was able to buy myself a lovely designer handbag yesterday...

Hope today was much easier for you. Another day under your belt. How exciting! You sound like you are doing really well.

Given time, just imagine how many more designer bags you can buy... maybe even some shoes to match!

yes thats true, but its getting more difficult the last few days. Im becoming very depressed and tearful. Is this normal? Plus putting on weight is not helping me feel as positive as I was in the beginning..

Hi Linda, how are you feeling today? It's not uncommon to have a feeling of being down and tearful, possibly due to the absence of nicotine. Are you using any form of nicotine replacement therapy? This feeling is all part and parcel of giving up smoking and whether or not you smoke, it will go away. You have come this far and have done so well. Think about that beautiful bag you have bought with your money. Remember how determined you were to do this and to win...? You can do it Linda and we're with you all the way... Just try and focus on the positive and think how much easier it will be the longer you go without. Big positive smiles being sent your way....
