Hi all, hope you are all well and smoke free........ I have spent the last 2 weeks with my mum who is very poorlyπ.......she is in the last stages of COPD......My heart is saddened and pained to see her struggle to breath, and what for???...... 1 more cigarette..... She has smoked all her life and this is how she has ended upππππ..... She told me she is so proud of me for giving up smoking.....but thinking about it and yes I have a lot of thinking time over the last 2 weeks......watching her struggle for every breath when she was such a vibrant outgoing loving caring mum, nan and great nan is that I'm proud of her for showing me without knowing what damage these cigarettes do I will NEVER NEVER Β smoke againπ π π ..... So bring it on mr Nic, cause you ain't taking me as well.Β

Ahhhh cimmy, that's so sad hun. What a terrible illness COPD is. This isn't a rant, it's just you sharing an emotional and very personal experience. Thank you for sharing this, it's a stark reminder of what could happen to any of us if we continue to smoke. You and your mum are in my thoughts and prayers πXxoo
Hi Cimmy, so sorry to hear about about your poor Mum. We are always here for youβ€οΈΒ thinking of you bothππΌΒ Β be very proud of your 21 weeks quitππ
You should be so proud of yourself as you will never get this time back and you used it to show your mum that you can fight the beast. That is both the best memory and present you can ever give her ππ
Arh cimmy, so sorry about your mum, I bet though like you say she is so proud of you. Well done on your quit. It's a horrible thing copd, my mother has it and never smoked. Caused by passive smoking . My dad smoked , and looking back on the years everyone that did smoke, smoked in her home. It was just the done thing. Which was so bad. I too will never smoke again. Cigarettes have caused so much pain and illness to those even that didn't smoke. Thinking Of you and your family. Stay strong here for you if you need a chat hugs xx
Cimmy, you just let it out anyyyyy time you want gal, cos we all here for ya.......

I am so sorry your mum is so bad and also because you have to witness it.Β
I have nobody. I have children but they are either too Β far away or, the close one, is not concerned with caring for or helping me very much.Β
I am actually jealous of your mum because she is so lucky just to have you around her at such a difficult time in her life. I commend you and want to tell you thank you for doing this for her.Β
I was trying to put myself in your mum's place and I think she should know that because of her condition, you are not smoking and she is responsible for saving your life from COPD. I think it would make her feel good knowing this.
I live in the USA and am 67 years old with children ranging from 27 to 50.
Thankyou for your kind words......this is actually the hardest thing I have ever had to doπ. I don't need thanking winded, she my mum and I adore her. I am sad to hear that you don't have any support.....parents deserve to be cherished as they are our life givers....please don't feel alone there is always someone on here to chat with and they are all a great support.... I must say GONGRAULATIONS on your 3 month quit.... That itself is an amazing achievement and you should be proud of your selfπππππ Take care winded and chin up all the way from rainy Englandπ€π€π€π€

Thank you. It makes me wonder what I might have done wrong because my children seem so uncaring. Their dad past away at age 40 but we taught them respect and kindness? Their dad would have been so angry to see that they treat me this way. If he were still living, I know things would be different.
Without this site, I am not sure I would have quit the cigs even with the Chantix. I would go on here and get some uplifting support.
I asked my kids to text me, call me that it would help me quit. One did it for a day. I know I would have quit sooner if I had that support from them.Β
All I can say is Karma is bad news. I believe they will become ill some day and not have anyone to care and they will be made to think back on how they didn't care about me.
Hi winded, I'm sorry to hear that you are doing this on your own and would like to say a huge big massive congratulations to you for 3 months quitππΌππΌ What you've done by yourself is amazing and I hope you're very proud of your achievement coz I'm really proud of youβ€οΈ you're never alone with this wonderful quit family on here, please remember thatππ
