Hi, I am a 68 yr old who had a 50+yr habit when I quit too. My main problem - aside from withdrawals- was SEEING my self as a non-smoker! We grew up in an era when smoking was seen as sophisticated, daring and desirable and it made quitting even more difficult in my mind.
I recently had a hospital stay though and trying to tell a young doctor why I smoked for 50 years was a frustrating experience. He had NO praise for my super human effort, just the "LOOK" - reserved for geriatric idiots. If I hadn't already, that would have made me quit!!
All the best and keep up the good work. It is hard, but worth it 😀😀😀
Cheers Ngaire xx
