Dear Santa,

I hope you and Mrs Santa are well and the reindeer are fit and raring to go!

This year I would like:

1. ALL medical professionals to AT LEAST have heard of PSP and have some awareness of the effects it has on sufferers and their carers.

2. All PSP/CBD sufferers to have access to the services, support and equipment they need regardless of where they live.

3. An open and honest debate about assisted dying for terminally ill patients.

4. A cure for PSP.

I've tried to be a good girl ;-)

love Kathy

p.s. Mince pie and Brandy in the usual place!

Merry Christmas one and all!! xxxxx

Dear Kathy,

Your letter to Santa completely sums things up. Well done. I have added a couple of additional requests on the end of your letter from me and they read........

5. Please give me and all other carers the strength and patience always to care for loved ones suffering from this cruel disease.

6. If you and your little elves could arrange it, can you please arrange that sufferers don't fall and hurt themselves any more.

Thank you Santa.

I promise to be a good girl, (just like Kathy), and when you get to our house you will find yet another mince pie and this time, a glass of sherry!

P>S> There's also a couple of carrotts for your reindeer!

Happy Christmas to everyone.

God Bless.........................SuzieQ xxxx

Thank you, thank you all for your heartfelt and realistic comments. We all know that the condition is what makes the sufferer do the things they say and do, we don't need to be told that. What we need is for someone to take the load from us when it gets too hard, most of us are only ordinary human beings after all, not Mother Theresa's.

Most of the time we just get on and do what we have to because the person we are caring for is a human being as well and not responsible for what has happened to them. It is a cruel twist of fate that makes an otherwise healthy person into an almost helpless and dependant being.

Happy christmas to one and all.

I wrote a blog post very similar to this the other day.

I also added that the general public had more of an awareness of PSP/neurological illnesses so you didn't have to explain what it was to everyone when a diagnosis was made.

Hope you all have a lovely christmas
