PSP and hearing

My husband has PSP and suddenly his heating has deteriorated. I have GP coming later to see if it is wax but am worried it might be a worsening of his PSP. Has anyone experience if this?

That's spooky. My husband has just been complaining of the same this week. He says he can't hear properly abd he needs the TV on louder. I'm going to try the ear wax softener drops and will let you know if we take further action. I've never heard of this as a psp symptom. I would also value any advice .

Just had district nurse and she says Aubs has lots of wax in ears so she is going to try and get GP to send someone out to syringe after we soften with olive oil. So maybe not PSP. I am very relieved as the only thing he is able to do now is listen to radio and he can't hear it even at maximum at the moment. He has been so panicky and had hardly slept since it started. I had not previously not heard of it connected with PSP but it's such horrible disease so I did wonder. Hope your husband is ok with his hearing soon. Cathy

Mymother also had a lot of problem with ear wax build up - way worse than other people in her nursing home. I had to keep pestering to get them to use the softening drops regularly and arrange for audiologist to syringe at intervals. I think this is similar to problems with dry eyes or temperature regulation that some PSP/CBD people have, where the brain can’t control these functions as normal.

Thank you that really makes sense. After I get it sorted I will keep on top of it. Cathy

my dad with CBD has had a problem with earwax - he’s had them syringed a few times now, he’s gone nearly stone deaf. I’ve never thought about whether there is a link. Thinking about it it’s not usual to have your ears syringed twice in two years. He’s late stage and totally immobile / my mum is primary care / he has a team of carers who come in to support his nursing needs.

It has made me think if it is another symptom like the dry eyes he constantly suffers with
