is it normal that a hour trip to a shop to buy some clothes can result is days of extreme tiredness?

My mum has PSP and CBD, but is still exhausted from a trip I took her on Friday to one shop to buy some clothes. She says everything is taking ages and she’s so tired.

I’m constantly worried about her.

Hi, I think it's quite common and tiredness can increase as psp progresses. I have noticed my husband gets tired very easily from an hour or so out fir a coffee, appointments with medical or support professionals and really any activity, something that wasn't the case 6-12 months ago. I think the tiredness xan be exacerbated by noise and chatter of others, the focus needed to walk and negotiate around others and the energy now needed to do something that came easy previously. I now ensure we only do one thing in a day, keep it short and I try and plan appts, visits or outings only on alternative days and not in the evening as this seems to make things worse. Generally mid morning is best fir anything although my husband has recently commented how tired he is on waking after a 12 hour sleep. The vagaries of psp and its effects I think. Best wishes

Thanks, I was worried I’d done too much with her, the OT has ordered an outdoor wheelchair for her to assist with these things.

I just hate seeing her so depleted from simple tasks when she always used to be fiercely independent.

Yes it is very tiring due to the considerable concentration required for everything your Mum tries to do. My wife was the same, one shop was more than enough until I installed an incar hoist to trasfer between car and wheelchair reducing her effort, this enabled more than one place to go.

Hi my husband has CBD. He walks very slowly with a trolly and has to stop. Also sleeps a lot no sooner up and he’s wants to sleep again 💜

It's more than normal. It's a reality. Period.
