Any ideas for alternative medication for CBD?

We have tried various medication for PD (Parkinson's Disease) for my mum's CBD with little or no success. I've been told by the Parkinson's nurses and Neurologists that because CBD is atypical it's normal that these medications would not be effective but we can try anyway. I have also been told by the Neurologist that if i wanted to explore medication outside of Parkinson's medication for example medication for someone with MS it would be ok too. However i get the impression that they are reluctant to give any advice or information concerning this. My mum is so stiff now that as a carer and also for the carers that come and visit it is becoming increasingly labour intensive to do moving/handling, repositioning, etc. Especially toiletting and dressing is so difficult now. Has anyone taking care of someone with PSP or CBD in advanced stage, i.e. very stiff and immobile, had any experience with using any different medication aside from typical Parkinson's ones?

Hi charlieford!I'm sorry PSP/CBD/ etc. has entered your family.

The suggestions of my "chat" colleagues are wise and based on their different experiences. In my case they have been very helpful.

These kind of diseases manifests theyself in a similar but different way in each patient. The participants in chats like this offer practices and solutions to learn from, and through the "trial and error" method, achieve a quality of life with interesting moments despite everything.

I am not a phisicyan.

During the 8,5 years in which we was living with PSP-RS I have been collecting our own experiences, symptoms and solutions and that of other members of the chat to offer some notes as a suggestion to PSP/CBD patients and caregivers. The mentioned notes are made with good will and with the best technical criteria that I could contribute, thinking above all in the support of the caregivers

Wishing the best for you and your family I amsending these notes by the private mail of this chat.

Hug and luck.

Luis

Ruth was recommended Baclofen to help with stiffness. It made her a bit more drowsy in the morning so she has not persisted with it. But maybe worth a go. Richard

I have CBD and I take Baclofen 3 times a day plus Klonopin—.25 mg in the middle of the morning and then .75 mg before I go to bed. It helps relax my body especially my right arm which is very stiff and spasms. You have to start slowly with these drugs and not everyone, unfortunately, is helped. I also get Botox shots in my right arm and hand. One of my physical therapists gave my caregivers a series of exercises to help keep my arm moving. And luckily, one of my caregivers is a really talented massage therapist and she is giving me mini-massages almost every morning. I hope you find something that helps.
