Momma is building her nest while looking after the eggs. One egg appears to be off white, almost tan in color, while the other one is white. Not sure if you can tell from the picture.

It was in the high 90’s today. Too hot for hubby to venture out. I’m enjoying a light breeze on the patio listening to children play a few houses down. Once again I ignored the housework and painted a couple of more rocks.

90 ! Where do you live ?

Near Las Vegas Nevada, in a town called Henderson. The suburbs. Beautiful neighborhood! The summers can reach up to 118 degrees. A strong hot wind can blow you over. I like to go outside and let the heat soak into my muscles. It feels good after being cooped up inside forced air conditioning. The heat seems to have arrived early this year though. My roses didn’t last long. The gardeners will have a field day blowing the wilted tangerine flowers away. Not great for allergies. I miss living near the ocean in CA but it is what it is.

And all this time I was picturing the nest in the cool UK :)

I have a friend who lived in Henderson.

I once spent a week in Feb visiting Death Valley. Spectacular !

Do you have a water/food source for the hummingbird parents ?

We used to have a flowing waterfall with a Koi pond. Unfortunately I couldn’t keep up with the maintenance and I turned the feature into a rock garden. What was the pond is now an extended patio. It’s still pretty to look at. Now we watch birds instead of fish. I want to add a simple bird fountain but I worry about it collecting mold during the high heat months. That’s the main reason that we got rid of the pond. I didn’t have time to fuss with it and look after hubby at the same time, plus there was added expense to keep everything running. It was turning into more headaches than it was providing enjoyment.

Henderson has grown so much that you probably wouldn’t recognize it. Our area is fairly new, built in a remote area and it’s just lovely!

I saw a small hanging water fountain in a catalog last year but for got to order it. If I see it again l hope to get one... not sure how much trouble it will be. I will let you know if l actually buy one. I am loving your photos. Sending hugs.... Granni B

It’s a different mom because the nest was being built at the same time that I was observing Frazzle feeding Razzle and Dazzle, outside of their nest. Awesome, right!
