As part of hubby’s goodnight cocktail he takes Clonazepam to help with restless leg syndrome. It’s a prescription drug and relieves anxiety, helps with his jerky movements and spasms. I tell hubby that it’s like Xanax on steroids. It works for him but everyone reacts differently. You can ask your doctor about it. I hope that you find something that helps.

Hi LeeBee

Reading the forum over the years restless legs is fairly common. As SewBears

says some doctors prescribe a small dose Clonazepam which is also prescribed to help with sleep as it has a long half life. e.g. it stays active in the body for a longer time than some of the others.

However we were advised by a Neurological Physio that exercising the legs is very good for this too. So those small carpet mounted / stand alone exercise pedals are very good if they can be used.

And, that doing exercise maintains the nerve pathways better and this will typically slow the loss of mobility and by continuing with weight bearing for as long as possible the need for a hoist is delayed. Once the person relies on a hoist weight bearing ability diminishes rather rapidly.

I do hope this is of some help.

Be well

Warmly

Kevin

Kevin:

I greatly appreciate your responding at this difficult time. Again, our condolences.

Interestingly, my wife still rides her exercise bike on a regular basis, despite the fact that she can no longer take a single step on her own.

For sure, we'll ask about Clonazepam. And post any suggestions we get from other sources.

Warmest regards,

lb

I have restless legs all the time during the day It’s being treated with Pramipexole that the neurologist gave me.

Thanks ever so much. Will check with our doctors.

Note: Our RLS only occurs during the day. Sometimes, near constant for hours on end. But never a problem sleeping.

Best wishes.

Both my husband who has PSP and I have restless leg syndrome. It is most annoying and I rub Magnesium Oil (must take a photo) on the legs. Works straightaway. RLS can be due to low magnesium.

We're waiting for a neurologist to approve and prescribe.

Thanks and be safe,
