Wild things...

I got a quick glimpse of Razzle, or maybe it was Dazzle? It’s hard to tell them apart. Around sunset this evening, one flew close to my head and just hovered. Then it took off like lickety-split. I was mesmerized in the moment! The newbies aren't together, so I can't tell if it's the same one that visits over and over again, or if it's one baby and then the other one 🤷‍♀️ Just blink and then they're gone, but oh how I love it!

A Bullocks Oriole stopped by this evening. The book says they migrate to South America so he might have made a pit stop here while happily on its way to where they go. They like oranges so maybe the tangerine vine looked appetizing. I’ve not seen an Oriole in this region before so this is super cool!

I made some headway on getting the elliptical thing put together to begin hubby’s exercise regimen. Tomorrow I’ll search (uh-hum) for a tiny little screw that fell inside the mothership. I spent over an hour searching for it before giving up. Tomorrow is another day. It’ll be okay.

Keep on keeping on!

So, my lesson for this morning, whilst having breakfast, was to find out a bit more about the Bullocks Oriole. It seems that during migration they stop off looking for sugary food, so you were pretty honoured to have one stop at your place for its break. Word must have got around in the bird population that Grandma SewBears is a pretty cool lady.

I have what seems to be a little family of long tailed tits in the garden at the moment. It was quite delightful watching at least six of them sitting around the bird bath just before dusk, taking turns to have a good splash. Too far away to get a photo unfortunately.

How lovely that you got buzzed by one of the Hummer youngsters - maybe they'll stick around with all that nectar on tap.

Have you been able to get hubby interested in all the fun of the past few weeks? Good to get him into an exercise regime as well. We have a recumbent exercise bike that Rod could manage for quite some time. He was oh so slow on the pedals but that didn't matter because at least he was getting some movement, which was better than nothing. It's been great for me during lockdown cos I get up and do 45 mins on it and then feel less guilty about raiding the cupboard for chocolate later.

Enjoy your day, and to all who are looking in to the forum.

Love Hils
