Hi, Colin has just had some sort of fit/seizure, he was twitching then his eyes were rolling and starring, and his breathing heavy and loud, only lasted a few minutes, and is now acting as it didn’t happen.
Is this a sign of anything else besides a UTI, which he has just finished anti biotics for.
He has deteriorated over the last few months, was wondering I’m getting to the last bit of this desease, I’m hoping so for his sake.

Sorry to hear about Colin. I'm not much help, but I do know I've seen other members mention this, and my hubby had some before he passed (actually when he did pass it was like a seizure or aneurism he was having..) I hope the UTI clears up for his sake: We know where this is all leading, but we sure don't want them to suffer any discomfort more than absolutely unavoidable on the way....
Thanks Anne, it was your post about seizure that I remembered, and that is why I have asked if anyone else had experience, he has never had one before, when he was having it I remember your post, just a bit scarey.

Ben did this on a few occasions and I was terrified for him. It quite quickly passed and he carried on as if nothing had happened, never seemed to be because of UTI.
Thank you Katie , I don’t think it is because of a UTI as I believe that has gone, he is sleeping now but acted normally after, except his breathing sounded like he had just run a marathon.
My mom had a seizure for the first time just last week. I have never seen her have one before. It was scary. It lasted for a few hours, then she fell asleep and was back to normal again. I hope she doesn't have another one anymore.
The old bag has had about a dozen of these and frightening though it is she is always fine afterwards. It just seems to act like a system reboot, she is fine and medics are confused as to how good her stats are afterwards. She now takes lamotragine and Clonazepam after having five in one morning at the hospital.

Thank you Javan, it’s good to know others have and are experiencing this, I’m not calling medics or anyone as I don’t want them in my home at the moment, I will wait and see how is later.

Larry had only one seizure. It woke me up. I heard a strange noise from him through the baby monitor. Going into his bedroom he was shaking from head to toe. Made a gulping noise. His eyes were moving. Having read about them on this site I waited. It passed. The visiting hospice volunteer, who is a nurse, said it sounded like a grand mal seizure. He had it 6 weeks before he died. I had read other stories about seizures on this site. They are a possibility with PSP.
Mick had one on boxing day this year he got it lasted a day he got admitted to hospital was in four days all his sats were fine we had to wait for the neuro consultant to come back on duty before he was allowed to be discharged he said it was a psp seizure ,he is sleeping a lot more now but has recovered a bit .
My son had a seizure walking with a walker to the kitchen for his lunch. His paid helper was beside him. The HOSPICE RN was visiting. I was in the kitchen and from there saw the beginning of the seizure. I started YELLING. My son passed out. He helper caught him before he hit the ground. The "helper" brought him back.
The RN said it was a seizure and said he was to be put to bed. He slept for the rest of the day into early evening.
My son had no brain autopsy (my fault) but on his death certificate his death was listed as PSP. He was barely 55 years of age.
This sounds much like the turns Ian used to have, though they don't happen so often now. His doc said it was down to a sudden drop in blood pressure. It often happened just after eating or during the end of a meal. Apparently not uncommon with diabetics or those with Parkinsons type issues.
It's only an idea.
It rarely happens now because Ian eats while in bed or on his recliner and is able to eat more slowly.
Hi Helen. I am so sorry this has started for Colin. My boyfriend Steve has seizures all day every day. They have put him on aptiom and lyrica and those seem to work pretty well, but they do have side effects. If he is even late taking the pills, he has the seizures again and they don't always stop all the seizures but they sure have helped. Good luck to you!
Our neurologist informed me that seizures are part of PSP but not everyone gets them. He advised me to call him if they occurred and he would prescribe medication to control them. He didn't say which medication but maybe your neurologist or GP could help.
Thank you Nanny, wow thank you for info, no docs or anyone have said that so far, he has only had one, but he’s not gone back to where he was, so I have a new normal, very noisy one, he is none stop talking, very clearly now but about a load of rubbish, jumping from one thing to another. He’s on anti biotics so this may be down to them, wait and see I suppose.
