I have heard about Sara Steady, which sounds wonderful and we need one. If we can't fit one in our house, is there a good alternative to Sara Steady? Thank you!

Alternatives to Sara Steady?
Dear Winter,
Where are you located?
Hi Winter,
Although I live in Spain, I was able to order an Able Assist from Arden Care Supplies in the uk. The young lady I spoke to, Rachael, was immensely helpful and I was able to buy it without vat.
They also have a folding version which may be better for you.

Hope this is helpful.

One thing to consider is a transfer chair. They are thinner than a wheelchair because of different wheels. Many can go through normal door widths in the home. Some can also be used for toileting and showering. I've even seen people use them at the parks of Walt Disney World.

Take a look at the Lumex stand assist. It sells for much less - around $500. It didn't work for our needs and I don't remember exactly why at the moment. It wouldn't allow my husband to transfer from his recliner so that was one reason. Whatever you consider, be sure to look at the specs to be sure it'll fit your house.
Someone else on this site liked the Lumex. You might want to make another post asking about the Lumex if it interests you.
We have Lumex Stand Assist — Mom has good upper body strength, so it works best for us. It takes a bit more muscle on carpeting vs hard flooring... but happy with our purchase. Good luck!
