Hi Annah

Depending which part of Staffordshire you are in, there is a PSP support group that meet at the East Cheshire Hospice in Macclesfield to which you would be very welcome to attend. We meet about every 6 weeks, the details are on the PSPA website under local groups (there may even be one closer to you) or I can let you have the details.

Thank you for your help. I live in north staffordshire and I don't travel well so could you suggest anywhere nearer. Newcastle-under-lyme is my closest town. Many thanks and take care.x

Afraid I don't know, give the PSPA helpline a ring on 0300 0110 122. Many Parkinsons groups also welcome PSP sufferers as well. Hope you find something that suits.

Annah, the Parkinson's suggestion is a good one. Sometimes the name of the group isn't as important as the information and support you get there. I started with a Parkinson's group and then moved to an Alzheimer's group and now depend on this website for information and support.

Hi Marilyn, Thank you so much for your imput re-Alzheimers website and group for support. Do you have PSP yourself and why do you find the Alzheimer's website good. Is it because we will suffer with the same symptons soon as I am already having problems with short term memory and I don't want it to progress. Take care

Annah,

Sorry I wasn't clear.. first, .I went to support group meetings sponsored by the Parkinson's association (because I am a caregiver to my husband, who has CBD which is classified as a Movement Disorder) to learn how to deal better with the impaired movement symptoms and then to support group meetings sponsored by an Alzheimer's association to learn about how to deal with the cognitive impairments my husband has suffered. Finally, I felt that I had learned, pretty much, what each group had to share and utilize this website to expand my knowledge base and to offer and receive support from others. At both groups I learned about community and private sources of help.
