Hi all

Just wondering what others do when your LO sleeps much longer than usual. Do you wake up to give meds or let sleep & give whenever they wake. Also if there sleeping a lot through the day. How do you manage meds/drinks/food?

Thanks in advance for any advise

This subject has been raised more then once. I for one never woke dad to take medicine unless it was something absolutely necessary. Dad napped a lot but he got to where he didn't sleep for long periods, say 8 hrs. I could usually adjust his medication taking to his sleep pattern as needed.

Larry’s sleep patterns are erratic. It changes frequently. I will wake him for a meal if he’s been out for a few hours.

Our neurologist always said sleep was critical for the brain to keep battling the disease. I never interrupted sleep unless an important appointment was up.

Great to hear how others deal with this. Maureen sometimes sleeps on till mid or late afternoon. She'll also fall asleep all evening. I have always let her sleep even if we were due to go out. My main reason has been because, if I do try to wake her, she would be like a rag doll to move and the risk of falls is not worth chancing. Reassuring to know that I may be doing something right!

Yes it seems the consensus is to allow them to keep sleeping.
