Keeping myself busy

When hubby sleeps I found a paint by number kit to keep my mind occupied. It keeps me from worrying about the future and it gives me something to do between laundry cycles. Just thought I’d share my new hobby. It’s tedious but also addictive. I like watching the painting come to life. This is my first painting and it’s only partially completed. Fun!

Love the subject! Which way up will you put it?!!

No doubt depend on the day you have had and how you feel.

Hi Jen,

You brought so much more meaning to the painting. I hadn’t considered the lion seeing itself as a kitty but there are days when I feel that way. The other way around where the kitty sees itself as a lion is very strong. I love your perspective!

I purchased 4 painting kits because my grandkids were visiting and I thought we could each try something different now that they are getting older. The 13 year old started on one and quickly lost interest, said it was too tedious. Then she started on a second painting and got a little more into it. They took both paintings home and I’m hoping to see two completed paintings from them around Christmas time. That would be fantastic.

So ambitious. I nap.

Hi Jeff,

I hear you. Nap time is precious! I’m going through an insomnia phase right now but I managed a two hour nap today. Yeah!

Great idea

I love the picture too - It looks so much like what Banksy's cat might do.

I hope things are fairly OK for you folks.

Warmly

Kevin

Hi Kevin,

Thank you. We’re holding steady. I figure no new changes for about a month now is a good thing.

Keep on keeping on...

I love this picture, as it shows the true spirit of kittens. My kitten is under house arrest... she has been stalking my hummingbirds.

Ron's wife told me about her hobby - Diamond Painting. l hope to give it a try this winter. It is necessary to keep our minds distracted at times & being creative is good for our souls. Sending hugs... Granni B

Hi Granny B,

I see that your kitty is acting like a lion going after innocent hummingbirds. She sounds like a character!

I considered Diamond painting but after watching a YouTube video about it I opted for the paint by number project. They’re both good for distractions and I see many more paintings in my future. I find it very soothing, especially with soft music playing in the background.

I love it. Good for you. Looking forward to seeing finished version. The kitten is how we often feel but the large cat is who we really are as we face up to and conquer so many things every single day. Well done. AliBee

This beautiful....do they do one for dogs and wolves, I wonder?!

I'm a sudoku and scrabble girl, myself, though I love my guitar, too!

Yes, there are several different animal paint by number kits available. You can search for them on Amazon. I actually bought mine from a website called paintplot.com but it took several weeks for them to be delivered. Amazon is probably better.

I’m also a 1000+ piece jigsaw puzzle gal and I enjoy sewing. I wish I could play a musical instrument or carry a tune but everyone around me would need to wear ear plugs 😂

Yes you need to keep occupied. My husband is in care now so I am teaching myself piano. It is a Godsend.

Good for you to I learn piano! I tried to teach myself once but I was working full time and just never set aside enough time to really focus. I have since sold the piano.

I wish you and your hubby all the best. Sending Hugs...

Great idea, it is so good to have something you can get involved in and even if it's only momentarily forget yourself. I took a learn to crochet workshop just before Christmas and now need my crochet fix each day, I've made shawls, flower brooches, cushion covers & baskets. It's opened up a whole new world to me of the different items you can make and how the same pattern in a different yarn can be totally different. I scour charity shops for yarn - my best find being hand died blue & purple mix Yorkshire wool at 50p a ball - one ball makes a light weight shawl and a couple of flowers ! Guess what everyone will be getting for Christmas this year !!

Look forward to seeing your finished picture.

I check out the App Store, free paint by numbers. Definitely keeps the mind alert. Lots of freebies if you look games etc. Didn’t take my iPad on holiday to Corfu so lots of catching up to do. Happy painting!
