Hi folks

There appear to be quite a few folk making applications for CHC, or facing reviews.

Checklist Stage

The first stage of gaining Continuing Health Care Funding is the checklist.

Advice on how to manage this and get through to Stage 2, the DST is here:

If you successfully get through this then the Continuing Health Care Team should move on the the DST Assessment in a timely manner which from memory is 28 days, I might be wrong. (They don't call it an assessment,but it looks like one feels like one and...)

Decision Support Tool Stage

It is so important to have completed your own Decision Support tool and to have in front of you in the 'assessment'. Also to mark the agreed scores on it and their score if you disagree.

The DST (Decision Support Tool) form looks quite daunting when you first use it. It's actually quite straight forward. Fill in the relevant evidence as you see it and don't skimp, or minimise. Then find the closest statement, from their scoring list, and put the matching score in the box.

I keep a bit of an eye on the forum.

I live very quietly at the moment.

Things are OK here, but very closed down with Covid and m lack of any desire to go out into the world.

I needed to find some direction. Otherwise I would just drift. So I plan to take to the waves again. A good strong small sea boat, sail of course. However Liz's elderly cat comes first. So I have dug my old charts out and bought new pilot books and am busy brushing up my navigation ad pilotage skills. As I paw over my old Scottish West Coast charts so many lovely memoriescomefloodong back. If that door opens I will certainly take it, but care of moggie comes first and so I must let her see her days through before casting off. She would not cope with a cattery and I plan to go for months at a time.

Thanks to Granni B for checking in 😊 I too, have been wondering how you are, Kevin.! Good to hear you are beginning to make plans for a life “after”.... I’m finding that hard to do. I had assumed travel would take up some time but Covid had other plans! So for now, trying to practice patience and gratitude 😉

Great to hear from you.

Patience and gratitude, yes, I understand that.

We have the highest infection rates for Covid in Europe. So many people just don't appear to make the effort to stay safe. So I self isolate most of the time.

I had to do some life planning. I have no children and few friends. I needed a direction. I have been at my happiest at sea. I've sailed West Scottish waters enough that pawing over a chart is like reading an exciting book. Images of places and events (usually wet and being tossed about for hours) come flooding back.

Covid may yet make other plans for me. Until then I follow the moggies time schedule. She is like an over zealous Station Master with a Swiss accuracy built in sense of time. It's great fun to go of schedule and watch her protestations.

Yes, always missing Liz.

You have been missed & l hope you are still making your bread. I cannot imagine being on the sea in a small sail boat but it does sound exciting. The coast must be magnificent. The pandemic has changed every thing in our world. On the open sea might be the safest place to be.

Axe throwing was fun yesterday... turns out our friend's grandson hit the bull's eye often & left here very happy with himself. I like that. We stay 10 foot apart & since we are outdoors l feel it is safe from the virus (l hope l am right).

It will be a while before I will be able to get a boat. Covid and other things. At least it is a direction.

No, I was diagnosed as diabetes 2. So very little bread now. What to do with 30kg of flour and wheat?!

I can only imagine No Bread baking... kind of like no Cookie baking or Axes! (I Cheated at Axes the other day - just can't throw - so l stood by the target & sunk the axe into the bullseye. My son said, "l saw that!" I answered, "My game... my rules! I do the best l can when l can." We both smiled...
