Hi Everyone,

We initially thought my father had PSP but its Multi Symptom Atrophy (MSA). Are symptoms similar? They are both brain decorative diseases but I wonder if the patients experience different ailments?

Thank you. Nga

I found a link that gives a broad overview of PSP vs. CBD vs. MSA. Keep in mind not every patient will be exactly like the steps outlined.

Good to have, Ron Thanks.

I found their description of CBD a little light on the pseudobulbar or frontotemporal mental symptoms, but its a good quick overview.

Hi Nga,

My husband has PSP, diagnosed a little over a year ago. My mother was diagnosed with MSA in 2002 and died from complications in 2006, although symptoms began approximately 2 years before diagnosis. Regrettably, I am quite familiar with both of these conditions.

From personal experience, I can say that slowness of movement, rigidity, and stiffness are common in both conditions. However, in my mother's case, the effects on the autonomic nervous system and loss of balance were the most debilitating very early on.

In addition to what you can find here, I would suggest that you visit curepsp.org website, also. There you will find a wealth of reliable information on PSP, MSA, and CBD.

Best wishes to you.

Teresa
