The two times my wife had Asperation pneumonia she was rushed into hospital and given antibiotics intravenously and fluids via a saline drip.Nil by mouth.

The immediate medical response to aspirational pneumonia is antibiotics. My son's first bout was antibioitcs that he got to take at home. The second he was hospitalized for 7-8 days.

I hope that Brian is receiving antibiotics by the MD who DX him.

Dear Linda

If Brian is in hospital try to get as much rest as you can - between visits you will need extra strength when he comes home

Speak to Dr about Hyoscine patches once the pneumonia is under control. They help to control salvia production. They’ve helped mum enormously. There can be side effects but so far mum really hasn’t had any major issues & has been on them around 6 months

My wife has been on them for about three years now. There have been about three occasions where there has been an excessive and worrying build up of saliva and a new patch has been placed behind her ear and the Saliva has cleared up almost immediately. Thank you for highlighting this. A Cheap and simple solution to a complex problem.
