Bad Coughing

I found a home remedy on the web =slice red onion layer with honey wait overnight then give the liquid as needed. I don't see any diminishment of coughing but hubby says it helps to cough up the phlegm. And he asked me to make up more!!!!! He doesn't cough much when eating and drinking if he sits up straight but eats candy all day long and in reclining position so coughs. He would rather cough than sit up and/or not eat candy, Grrrr

Hi Yvonne,

Sorry you are having a hard time. Lack of sleep makes everything worse doesn’t it. Have you tried massaging Vicks into George’s feet at night. I laughed when the night carer told me why she wanted Vicks but with C it worked wonders.

We have tried that Bev xxxx

I first tried Vick’s for a cold three years ago. It worked. I was so surprised. Eucalyptus, camphor and menthol are cough suppressants. Had a recent cold and it wasn’t as effective. It did help with my painful flat feet. Seems eucalyptus and menthol are topical analgesics.

Dear Yvonne

Fingers crossed you have a better night. The coughing must be really distressing for you and George.

Sorry I don’t have any suggestions though i have heard good things about Vicks on feet before that Nanna B suggested.

Take care

Sending love and a big hug

I'm with you Yvonne. Second day with incessant coughing. When it starts it doesn't stop. I can't sleep. Second night with none! Cough medicine making it worse. So helpless and sad. He's sputtering now and will all night. It's heartbreaking and annoying at the same time

Thank you - Great tip.

If Candy is chocolate then Liz would be on his side.

ALL candy Kevin, you name it, hard mints m&m's, etc

Well at least it will keep his weight up. I guess.

PSP is teaching me to find small optimisms where I can!

Liz is on liquid food, but I have found a way to put the chocolate in the front of her

mouth, a little at a time and to give her real chocolate drinks.

It must be stressful for you though.

Warm wishes to you both.

Ivor didn't eat a lot of sweet things until the psp diagnosis, since then he's made up for it big time. I could easily change my shopping list to read ...chocolate, bounty , , marshmallow, jellybabies , fudge, cake , , chocolate biscuits, icecream, tea , and milk... and few apples pears and bananas. for me....if I did it would save a lot of the horrible job called ....cooking.....Brenda xxx
