I bought a transit chair to move Larry around when we went out of the house. I only used it a few times. He’s been house bound due to the ten steps to the street walk. Plus my aging body not being able to get him up and down said steps. With this cold he’s been weaker then he has been. Yesterday I started to use the transit chair in the house to get him to the kitchen for meals. This morning I used it to get him from his bedroom to the lift chair in the hall then from the lift chair to his chair in the living room. I’m hoping this is temporary. That he will recover enough to move around on his own with the rollator and my help. Knowing this disease I have to wonder. We’ll see.
Is this a decline?: I bought a transit chair... - PSP Association
Is this a decline?
With us it was a zigzag course; we used the chair indoors once or twice, then back to walking, then again with the chair, on and off with increasing frequency until there was no more walking. It took a while though. Of course everyone is different. This is just to say for us there were few dramatic declines that were definitive all at once.
Do be careful. It's surprising how much the hoisting wears on the body of the one doing it. My ribs are still a bit displaced.
Dad used a walker for about 6 months then it became to much for him physically and he transitioned to a wheelchair full time. At the time his Physical therapy said it was a good decision since it appeared even a few steps was wearing dad out, increasing the chance of a fall.

Good luck Jeff - Hope its not a permanent step down! My hubby is following the zigzag path described above.

I hope it's only temporary Jeff. xx
With PSP one seldom gets better from any decline or setback. I hope he will be the exception.
