A long time back, someone asked me for a picture of the place I was always talking about, my man's home in the western mountains of Maine. I'm sorry it has taken so long, and hope the requester is still about. This is a view to the west. It is at the foot of the big erratic boulder - it's about 2 meters high - that his ashes and those of his brother and parents were scattered. The old farmhouse, which is closed up now for the winter, is right behind the photographer, so the views are always wonderful, actually better now with the trees bare.

Snow-bound now
Hi Sarah
That is so beautiful. A wonderful place for ashes to be.
So much lovely sky!
Do you still ski?
Enjoy the snow.

The property is surrounded on all sides by a very large and largely undeveloped state park. The cross-country ski trails cross the upper field. I loved to ski there long before I met my dear man, and hope to be skiing there again this winter, as I have not been free to do the past couple of years. His father for a few years, when my man was in his teens, ran a small downhill ski-run, with a lift powered by a Model-T Ford motor, right there by the boulder. The trees have grown up since then.
Very peaceful photo. Maine is a beautiful state. We travelled to Ogunquit many times years ago when we were living in Sherbrooke, Quebec. We loved the ride through the mountains and villages. Thanks for reminding me.
Simply beautiful! Thank you for sharing x
Beautiful. I wouldn’t get anything done if I lived there. I’d spend all the time soaking up the view. A wonderful place to be scattered. Those visiting their loved ones’ final resting place must have their spirits lifted looking out to the horizon. Thanks for sharing it with us.
