My Dad finally lost his fight with PSP last night. He went quietly in his sleep after suddenly deteriorating last Thursday. I am heartbroken beyond words, especially as I couldn't be with him at the end due to living overseas and not being able to get back to UK due to the lockdown But even though I couldn't be with him at the end, I spent as much time as I could with him over the last couple of years and I will treasure those memories forever.
This disease took everything from my Dad and he suffered so much, but finally he is resting peacefully. I will continue to support the PSP Association in the hope that treatments and maybe a cure can be found for this terrible condition.
I haven't posted much here, but reading all the posts and seeing other peoples stories has helped me so much and I'm so glad I found this community.

What a beautiful, loving photo with you and your Father. So sorry for your loss during these most difficult times. I pray you find peace and comfort in the coming days.
Twinkle, dad's and daughters often have a very special bond and it sounds like that's just what you had with your 'Popsy'. Hang on to that because it will sustain you as you grieve and always feel blessed that he was your 'Popsy'. I can see in that lovely photo just how much you loved each other.
I understand how you feel right now. My father died a long time ago but I spent as much time as I could with him, like you.
You will have few regrets and lots of happy memories to help you through the sadness of knowing he is just 'not there'. Mine too lived in UK, and I was far away.
So sorry for your loss and in such difficult times that made it impossible for you to be with him. Going by that beautiful photo of you both, there was a lot of love between you and he will always have a special place in your heart. May you find some comfort that he is at peace now, free from the evil PSP.

I'm an expat,too. It's not easy being away from loved ones at any time, but my heart goes out to you now that your dad has passed. I know my own daughter has found it hard not to come out to visit her dad while he is still just about able to communicate.
May you know a comfort and a peace in these difficult times that is beyond understanding, and from your photo it seems you have many happy memories to cherish.
My Popsy used to spend so much time in Gibraltar, he loved it here. That was until his health started to deteriorate. Then I used to spend all the time I could back in the UK with him. The hardest part was when his ability to communicate got so bad, that when we weren't together, we couldn't have our daily phone calls anymore 😥
I have so many wonderful memories & I'm trying to focus on those rather than being angry at this evil disease which stole him from me.
I send my sincere condolences to you and your family on your loss. Losing a loved one at any time but it is magnified when you are unable to be close to them. A big loss for you. The photo is lovely . Your father looks so dear and your eyes shine because you are with him. I am sorry. And thank you for continuing to support the PSP organization's important work. We are all in this together and someday, God willing, there will be a cure.
I’m writing for two reasons. 1) to put you back on the top of the list because you and your dad have such a special bond and two) because I always say hello to those who have been lost, whenever I see hummingbirds.
I have a story that I will post. About loss, after my babies leave their nests. But for now, until I know that they are safe from obnoxious predators, I am holding onto my personal experience. This has been a wild ride that just keeps escalating.
I hope that you are at peace knowing that your “Popsy” is no longer suffering with dreadful PSP. I’m so sorry for your loss.
Dear Fi. What a lovely photo of you and your Dad. You can tell whose daughter you are xx I am so sorry that you could not be with him at the end due to the current lockdown but being with him when he was alive and well enough to take pleasure from your comapny is by far the most important thing that you did for him and I am sure that he would agree with that. Concentrate on the memories made then and all the others that you have from before he was ill as they will bring you comfort in the days that follow. Big hug AliBee x
