Mum has started to drift in and out, closing her eyes and then suddenly waking with a start. And seems a bit confused and unawarw of her surroundings. She's not bed ridden but does spend most of her time in her chair. I do feel we are nearing the end 😭😭. God bless you all. Xxx

Drifting....
Hi Careenh, she may be nearing the end but this can go on for a very long time, especially if she is eating and drinking anything. I thought my husband would leave me many times during the last two years of his life but it wasn’t until he refused all food and water that the end finally came. Try not to think about when the end will be, none of us know how much time we have. Keep talking to her as normal, she will very probably hear and understand everything you say so avoid talking about her within earshot. Several times my husband, who hadn’t spoken for a very long time, would suddenly come out with a clear word in answer to something I was asking someone else. On one occasion, when he had appeared to be asleep for a long time, I said, “Shall I get a tattoo?” Out came a very clear “No”. PSP is hard for everyone concerned.
Best wishes.

Larry sleeps a great deal but he is still eating, moving around with help and talking. Sometime I think he could go anytime now then he seems fine. It’s a roller coaster ride on a daily basis.
He’s disoriented when he wakes frequently. He comes round once he is as awake as he can be.
My Dad does this too, he is very up and down - sometimes quite lucid and then drops off for a while and wakes up looking confused. Sometimes he has whole days where he is like this and then the next day he gets out of the chair by himself!
