Problem with eyes..

Hello,

Just wondering if anyone out there has experience of having Botox to help with involuntary eyelid dropping. My mum is due to visit the Botox clinic at our local hospital and is very worried about the whole process.

Any comments?

Hi CM2015

I've been having Botox for over a year now.Sometimes it works better than other times. I have botox every 3 months. Last time I had it it lasted 2 months. then my eyes go back to shutting. I'm due to go back in December. It does hurt a bit when they give you the injections, but I'm prepared to put up with it in order to see!

Can I ask how long you have had this dreadful illness?

Mum was diagnosed a year ago but she has had it for longer than that possibly 5 years.

I was diagnosed with Parkinsons for about 10 years. Last year I had a scan which showed the hummingbird sign.It was after that I was diagnosed with Psp.

My guy was scheduled for Botox both for his eyes and the salivary glands, for drooling, when he had a bad fall and had to miss the appointments. Couldn't reschedule for so long the symptoms faded or became manageable, so I've dropped it. A number of people on this site had good things to say about the injections, but there was also one report at least of eyelids after treatment refusing to shut at all. I don't mean to be alarmist with that; the general consensus was that the injections worked very well for some time. Good luck. Let us know how it goes for you mother! Easterncedar

I've been receiving Botox injections in my eyelids every three months for just over two years now. Camper is correct in saying the injections are a little uncomfortable. I'm happy to say that it works well for me. daddyt

My wife of 45 yrs is in her 4-5th yr with this nasty disease...her eyes tear alot and her vision is on the decline .She has had experience with Botox ,but not in her eyes. She has had injections in her leg..(which is severely turned out).She walks on the outside of her foot ...which is painful and makes her balance even worse. The 2 injections were given 90 days apart ...1st was 100 units ...no effect...the 2nd was 250 units ...still no effect. so we are done with botox. I do know this ...there are not any real bad reactions to botox ...it was designed to relax muscles around the eye area about 20 or so yrs. ago.Obviously they use it for many things these days .Read about it , but my opinion is to try a low dose and see..try it again and see....then if there is no result that equals the risk move on . This disease is like a mutation of the worst diseases known to medicine ....Nothing seems to slow it , reverse it , or even sooth it...
