Sorry folks, I haven't been on much since going to Australia at end of Sept for 2 weeks to visit my daughter, son-in-law and 2 grandchildren. W went to stay with our other daughter and family who live just over an hours drive away. Unfortunately he fractured his foot before I left and had to wear a moon boot which curtailed his moving around. However friends and family took him out for coffee or lunch which was lovely. Daughter said he had a better social life than them!! Our 6 year old granddaughter read him a story very night and they now have an even closer bond than before.
I arrived home to a building site (getting an extension to house) so have been trying to keep workmen on site, (not looking forward to my next phone bill) running here and there for flooring, lights, doors etc etc, looking after W, and then falling into bed exhausted in the evening. Then getting up early in the hope that workmen turned up. Thankfully extension is almost finished, but trying to get the builder back to completely finish it is proving difficult. I hope to look back over your posts to catch up with you all very soon. In the meantime sending you my love, Nanny857. xx

So glad you enjoyed your trip to Australia, actually been thinking about you, welcome home. It is lovely when the grandchildren do little things that mean so much. Can just imagine what a mess you came home to with building work going on, I hope the builders come back and finish soon, so you can get straight by Christmas. Big hug Yvonne xxxxx
I don't know what it is about builders, but they can never, ever finish a job. The bane of my working life. I hope you haven't paid them. DONT until the work is finished 100% to your satisfaction!
Glad you had a good break down under and that W enjoyed his stay with the grandchildren.
Thanks Heady. I'm keeping back the final payment until I'm 100% satisfied. Building Control are coming on Thursday to check out a few things I think are not a great finish and if they agree the builder will be redoing them until I am. If he wants his money before Christmas he'd better get a move on.
So glad you have had a lovely holiday. You will both have benefitted from it. Grandchildren are lovely and so accepting of everything. Glad a bit of extra closeness happened. Our grandchildren call Steve - their 'poorly granddad' and are always happy to visit. Hope you get everything straight in the house soon. Bane of our live builders but hey ho- when they have finished and hopefully you are enjoying your festive drinks and can look around thinking 'isn't this great' - all the mess will be forgotten.
Thanks Pauline, it will be great when it's finished and I am looking forward to toasting it with the festive drinks. Electrics and plumbing are finished, Wood burner will be in place in 2 weeks, and W's riser/recliner arrives in a few days time. So whether the flooring is down or not, we will be in it. 🎄🎄 🍷🍾
A wood burner going in, oh you will love that. The best money we have ever spent. The only thing is now, S can't cope with the direct heat from it. He has always demanded prime position, now with his huge recliner, I don't know if I can change the layout of the room. Had a lovely fire going last night, but had to let it go out, because he couldn't cope. There is no way, I am not having It on, this winter, some things go beyond the call of duty!
