Ooh Yikes better get on google and see if this is a weird side effect....what is atropine for?
If it's connected, it must be a very severe reaction. Connect your GP ASAP.
Glad you have finally joined us.
Lots of love

It seems unlikely to be related from what I know, but everyone is unique, and maybe there's an allergic thing happening. If you were giving it to him for choking, it is just maybe pneumonia?
He is a lot better this morning so I will give the drops again in a couple of days to see if he has the same reaction
Thanks
Hi everyone Alan lot better this morning so I will give it a couple days then try drops again and see if he has the same reaction. The drops are for the thick mucous but he has been having problems with his urine at the moment, prostate trouble. It's never just one thing
Thanks Nette
Hi not a usual reaction we use atropine to ease saliva by drying the mouth. No reaction in small drop doses, M on 2 drops in mouth at least 3 times a day but as required. If you still have the original box and contents there should be a drug information leaflet which will have common and rare side effects as well as conditions that the drops should be not used with.
Only caution atropine eye drops are meant for eyes not saliva control used as an effective side effect that doctors use. Therefore some of the drug leaflet information does not apply.
Do not use atropine drops in eyes of PSP sufferers as will exacerbate dry eyes, it is used to reduce tears in some conditions.
Hope it was a one off temperature spike which later stage PSP can happen.
Best wishes Tim
My father use to take atropine drops for congestion in his throat, almost like he was gurgling. It did help dry up the secretions, but he always had pain with urination due to his prostate. These drops dry up all your fluids and can cause more problems for someone with prostate issues. Make sure to do good mouth care and keep him hydrated as much as possible. Hope this helps. P..s never had temp only when he had chest infection which was often.
I found the side effects of the atropine drops used sublingually overwhelming and made my husband very drowsy and unwell - it stopped him passing urine and made him very thirsty - and that was only after a very short time on one drop under the tongue. When we stopped the Atropine his urine output increased dramatically - so obviously this is a drug which is not going to suit everyone. We tried it a second time with the same effect. I hope this helps.
