If you are on means tested Social Care keep a copy of all of your expenses and receipts for conversions equipment and care costs.
This year a cap on personal costs of £72,000 should have come into place. The government has put that off for four years, but it is backdatable and you can set all expenditure against the cap if you need to then.
This means that if/when the legislation (which has passed through Parliament but it awaits a start date) is activated the total you should ever have spent is £72,000. At that point the Social Services pick up the full amount.
If you are not eligible for Social Care because of savings and investments keep them too. When the law comes in you too can claim Social Services care and enjoy the same cap.
I am so wonderfully optimistic!

Sounds too good to be true doesn't it. 4 yrs is new lot of politicians so do not hold breath. Always useful to keep quotes and invoices as you say there could be changed to care provision. But this is an England only proposal so far, doubt if Wales will follow suit as already overspent but I can always hope. Scotland is different as all care costs covered now so I doubt could afford to increase the cap.
Best wishes and fingers crossed the politicians will consider the carers needs.
No it didn't get lost in translation. My sense of humour gets a bit lost in print....you didn't see me smiling. I was also a bit of an anorak when I was at work working with children in mainstream education with additional needs. When I left work someone held my code of practice up as she gave a farewell speech. Practically every page had a post it note stuck on it and I'd written all over it. She joked that no one else needed to read it as I knew it by heart and they only had to ask me if they wanted to know something. I was a bit obsessed. Shame I don't feel the same about housework.
