Happy New Year ALL

I have been reading this blog for about a year now, since my husband mark who is 59 was diagnosed with psp. Does any one know of website or any ideas for raising his plate to eye level as he has hard time looking down. I did find laptop tables, but was looking for something to put on the kitchen table.

Thanks

Becky

You can get prism glasses. They enable you to see a plate, or what ever, while looking straight ahead. We got a pair from the PSPA! If you are in the UK, contact them, or speak to the OT or GP.

Lots of love

My husband could not manage without his prism glasses, they are such a help, it might take a while to get used to them but, well worth it. PSPA sent them to us when we joined. 😊

When he was eating, my husband used a mirror tilted at food. This seemed to work somewhat though B did have a hard time with coordinating direction of fork toward food!

We never got a chance to use the prism glasses!

We have found putting the plate on top of a padded lap tray ( as used for sofa snacks for the general population) on the table works well.

We have an over chair table, just like a table they use in hospitals over the bed

However I think I need to look at these prism glasses to

I also have problems looking-down at a plate of food which is compounded by double vision. My consultant suggested I wear an eye patch and it looks mad but works a treat

My husband detested the prism glasses-refused to wear them. I put a "breakfast in bed" type of tray on the kitchen table and that worked fine for awhile. I also found special utensils that were easier to hold and manipulate. Now I help him more. He holds his own sandwiches and such but does not seem to be able to bring fork to his mouth without help. Good luck!
