My husband took CoQ10 (a natural substance found within the body and a memory supplement made from Ginko), and other leaf extracts, each at separate times. He has responded well to both of them. Has anyone found this to be true for them?
Having a good day today praise God!!!

Hi there AVB ! If you click on CoQ-10, you'll find a post from "Eastern Cedar " from a few weeks ago which will bring you up to date on the use of CoQ-10. At this point in time, it appears to be the only supplement that has been confirmed as making a difference in the rate of progression of PSP. My sister has been taking 600mg of the Solgar brand , three times a day for several years. Though her PSP is progressing somewhat as is to be expected, I am very hopeful that the CoQ-10 is making a difference by slowing this process. The beneficial effects are related to the anti oxidant properties of the CoQ-10. Wishing you and your husband much success with the challenges of dealing with whatever life brings and have a peaceful and positive Summer.
Thank you for your reply. It's good to hear others have had some satisfaction. There was a study but unfortunately not enough evidence to prove the supplement was helpful. So I thought I would just reach on my own! I do hope that you and everyone continue to get some benefits from the stuff! Thanks again for writing!
Glad to hear coenzyme q10 was beneficial, I used it for non psp related dementia like symptoms and found the more expensive but more absorbable ubiquinol q10 considerably better than standard coenzyme q10.
Yes we just used it as a memory supplement. And when B went off of it (we ran out of the large amt. we had) I could see an actual difference. The stuff we were getting I may reorder as it did show evidence of benefit even in his muscle memory ie walking, remembering successful ways to get up and down, even better articulation!
I HAVEA TRIED COQ10 ANF UBIQUINOL BBUT IN LOWER DOSES THAN IT SUGGESTED WOOLD BE EFFICACIOUS AS IT IS V EXPENSIVE TO BUY ONLINE
BUT AT 1ST I NOTICED A DIFFERENCE IN MY FaLLS BUT HTEN IT TAPERED OFF SO I FINISHED THE BOTTLES I HAD AND THEN TRIED THE UBIQUINOL ~(again a lowIsh dose S SUGGESTED ON THE BOTTLE)
u r fine! keep communicating . this is the most important brain stimulant there is! So no help from the supplements,,,,,well weve got a couple bottles left so we will continue til at least then,
Was going to ask about it myself abirke. Was thinking of getting it for don but want to check with his Dtr. Am giving him coconut oil with Docs approval for memory. It takes a few weeks for it show any benefit but it does work. Tablespoon 3 times a day. Happy your having a good day.
Coconut oil huh? I might try that form me! I have a horrible uhm oh ya memory? LOL
Actually, We have been on CoQ10 for about 3 wks. have not seen am improvement this time around. In fact, B has had somewhat of a slide. Falls are increasing, sitting is increasing....visual impairment...he now watches tv with one eye....he cannot explain why. Behavior still stable, calm... is able to laugh....We will still use the stuff but I might just throw in the Coconut oil for good msr!....Just reread the posts....maybe I need to up the dose.....too bad I can't get prescribed by dr....that would ease the monetary pain! Thanks for writing Audrey....To our Basal Ganglia!
Indeed, I was part of a health news letter ($19.00 US a month) and could buy bottles for $13.00 US but had to buy 10 bottles and then they would send me a bottle a month for $13.00. We used them, thought I could see improvement, I really did. Then I stopped because B was going through other things. That has all settled, So he started up again......we will see... It is expensive....actually its only .30 cents a pill...hmmm we'll see....
I just read the study they did for PSP on certain drugs/ supplements/ brain stimulation. Coq10 had a bit of success but not being smart enough to read the statistics, I was lost...Maybe if I did Coq10 myself, I could understand the findings better! hahaha
