My Don is coming home on Saturday. Don't know if its the med or therapy but he can walk with a walker, get out of bed himself and is a completely different person. It was the UTI that caused many of his problems. I reported the rehab facility for sending him home in that horrible condition. The state is investigating them.

COMING HOME
It's good Don is going home again. I hope things work out now the UTI has been treated.
Best wishes.
Hi Audrey glad Don is coming home you sound very happy good luck Yvonne xxxxxx
Hi NannaB, I can't believe the difference in him for the better of course.
Thank you
hi Nanna . We had a surprise visit from the district to assess John . I am glad I didn't know when she was coming because I was fretting about it .
I had already made some notes of what I wanted her to know .
when she came she told me she wasn't sure what they wanted her to do .
I showed her the notes I had made and she raised her eyes as she went through it all . I had put the LOT down . I. Told her I found it difficult to talk about it landed as if I was making things up !!
Luckily her own father in law had had PSP she she knew a great deal about how it was. . what astride of luck was that !!
she went through everything and told me that John I s a lot worse than people who already have CHC .
She will now Thor it all up and sent it to social services . She has the Parkinsons nurse e mail and GP both of them will support is am pretty sure .
Obviously it's not up to her but she is on our side . she wants to support me . asked if o needed him to go for respirate maybe for a week end . I told her no .He would hate. It and I would but I need more backup and also know it's available of ever I was ill / poorly and felt I needed it .
it will take a time I know but I am one step further and although more hopeful I won't hold my breath .
I am so pleased things look as if they are going in the right direction. What a coincidence that her father in law had PSP. I hope things don't take too long.
Don't worry about mistakes. I worked with dyslexic children and have too dyslexic sons, I read things now and hardly notice mistakes.

what good news I am so happy for you . UTIs can cause such problems .
cabbagecottage, it caused huge problems. I really feel it was the cause of so many of his issues. He is like a different person now, walking easily with his walker. I am just scared about him contracting another one and how will I know. Scares me to death. He is so happy now and so am I. He will be home.
I bought some of the dipsticks to test the urine myself , If if think the colours are not quite right I take a sample to the GP to check .
try not to worry about the future , You will both cope
That's great news! Hope all goes well this time.
Lots of love
Heady
Hi Heady, We are both so happy he will be home and seems to be in much better condition than he was last time. I am sure it was the UTI that caused everything. He practiced walking on different surfaces today with me and the therapist using the new walker I bought for him.
Lots of love back,
Audrey
Good lluck. remember to have him drink plenty of water get up and move around a bit and go to the pot on a regular basis. That may help keep UTI at bay!

abirke that is what worries me, the UTI coming back. Have already told him he has to drink a lot of water. He will be getting OT and PT at home for how long I don't know. Its the UTI that scares me. We are both so happy he will be home.
TY
Maybe the lack of stress from not being at home will help him flow easier and thus not create that UTI. And remember you guys are still the boss of you! if you have questions about the surgery or any care given to you , you have the right to question and if the answers on not satisfactory ask how this answer applies to the question or more importantly to the health of your mate!

Slow urinating creates a UTI? Didn't know that. Thought it was bacterial.
Oh yes indeed it is from bacteria. But why is the bacteria there? enlarged prostate, neurological disorders are just two of the reasons Mayo Clinic touched on . And the longer urine is in the urethra or bladder etc the longer time/opportunity it has to grow bacteria. Being in a hospital, being catheterized can also lead to infection. Yuck, you go there to get better and end up with somethin' as bad if not worse....

Lovely, are we having fun yet abirke. He has been urinating a lot today being home, like every half hour. Hope he doesn't do that all night They lowered his finesteride, oops don't know how to spell it, where I don't know, hospital or this rehab from 5 mg to 1. Hope it doesn't create a problem. What does AVB mean?
AVB arejust my initials . Yes fun can be had and I knew pp would flow easier once home! It's amazing how our bodies respond to our environment! If he does pee all night long just thank God he's going at all! it will all balance out!
