Thank you to all those who gave me advice and support for the email I sent to friends regarding Mum. I've had very interesting responses, mainly positive although a couple have taken offence but that's NOT my problem.
It was interesting the relief that was relayed back to me from friends who explained they were finding it progressively difficult to "know what to say and ask" so they were more than happy to receive the email. Several have already said they're sending letters and photos for Mum and that they're delighted to be able to do something.
Most people have told me how brave I have been to say what I need for a change (I'm not know for asking for help) so that was reassuring.
Thank you again for all your wonderful support, we'll see what happens next but hopefully I won't have to regurgitate the solid details of Mums illness on daily basis. xx

IYt is v difficult to htihte right note and a general email should do the trick

Well done Kate, glad it's worked out alright! Like you have already said, the people who took offence. Tough!!! Anything that makes yours and your Dads lives easier, is a winner in my book!

Whenever I meet someone who hasn't seen my husband Roy for a long time, I start to explain a bit about CBD then like you I suddenly think''well, I could be here for a while now!" So I have cut it short and say as you do"look it up on the internet" it does save my exhaustion!
Hi, the last time I explained to someone what was wrong with S. Said it was a brain disease, where the neurons stopped talking to the rest of the body. The reply was " Oh kjhg!" I then changed the subject quickly, much to the relief of the other person!!!
