Hyperbaric oxygen therapy.

Hi, I have just been told about this treatment. You sit in a pressurised room, with pure oxygen. It is being used to help MS, but it could help with the similar symptoms of PSP. Has any one used it? With what results?

You might want to contact Dr. Permutter's office in Florida. IN 2006 (according to Cure PSP forum), it was said it did not help PSP. Yet, on their website, they list it as a treatment for Parkinson's. Hmmm...

I'm in the UK, so can't contact this doctor. But if this therapy helps people with MS to move a bit better, it's bound to give relief to our loved ones. If only for a short while. Jim said it was expensive, but I haven't investigated the costs yet! Interesting that they offer it to Parkingson sufferers. I think I will find more about it!

You could probably contact his office in Florida and ask them. He is currently a quite vocal and possibly controversial "Pop Doc" here in the USA. "For medical inquiries, please contact the Perlmutter Health Center at: newpatient@perlhealth.com." His website is drperlmutter.com/.

If you wish, I can also ask my husband's neurologist what she knows about its effectiveness. She has never mentioned it as a possible treatment.

A friend of mine with MS had the treatment and at the time some years ago, she felt it helped but now looking back they feel it was placebo.

Hi Jill, Placebo works for me, if it makes S feel better. I know it won't work, but if it gives him a few hours of feeling good, what more can I ask for!!!

I run the Hertfordshire Multiple Sclerosis Therapy Centre in Letchworth, Hertfordshire, England. We charge £40 for one Oxygen session. Often people have a block of 15 - so that is £600. There are discounts for payment in advance or time can be agreed to spread the payments. Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment is available of many MS Therapy Centres around the UK and you can find your nearest one at msntc.org.uk. Prices will vary at different MS Therapy Centres. But it's much MUCH less expensive than in the USA. You're welcome to email me at markboscher@hmstc.net or phone us on 01462 684 214 - just ask for Mark. hertsmstherapy.org.uk
