What bliss -on my back in the dentist for half an hour having root canal treatment-no beck and call no responsibility - next week I am having a hernia operation- five hours in the hospital alone - I am almost looking forward to it ....well almost....maybe ?

Don't know whether to say yeah ugh! ;-)

Totally relate to this one. Worked out last night I haven't had a day off since late June. Get a couple of hours once or twice a week when I do shopping while C naps but am always rushing to get back in case there's been a disaster. Have flights booked for shopping day in Istanbul on 13 December and will have friend staying here.....counting the days.

A even the shortest period away from the situation can recharge your battery. for example going into the bathroom . Although I even take both land ,ime and mobile phones in with me .

Bit like good news, bad news isn't it? I hope you are going to get a lot of help when you come from your op. No lifting, driving, pushing wheelchairs etc or you will be back in hospital again ( not a good way to have another break). I do wish you well and hope you are able to know your other half is being well looked after in your absence so you don't worry all the time.

Very best wishes for a successful op and speedy recovery.

Thankyou for the kind thoughts - I have arranged care for my wife morning and evening getting up and going to bed and I have promised my daughter that I wont lift anything heavier than the coal bucket (joking) - am taking it seriously as I realise my wife depends on me so I will be careful .

I echo NannaB's every word.

Be very careful.

Strange as that sounds, I do understand. I had a similar experience and I so welcomed the opportunity that the doctor thought I was fairly strange.
