It has been about 2 years since beam radiation therapy. My PSA had very slowly declined to about 1.8 two months ago. 3 months before that it was 2.1. I just had a PSA test done in preparation for a phone call with my old radiation oncologist as I moved out of state to Philadelphia. When I took my PSA test today in two months it jumped up to 3.5. I figure that either something just went wild with my remaining prostate or inflammation associated with my Crohn's/sex/infection caused a spike. My RadOnc and Urologist will clearly have some thoughts. Maybe they will want a PET scan or some such thing. I guess the question I have is whether PSA can change that rapidly due to a tumor, or can infections/inflammations do such things? IF we do a PET/diagnostic how accurate are they? Are there better test then the PSA to detect tumor reoccurrence? Are there any good questions I should ask either the Urologist or RadOnc tomorrow?
