Many thanks for sharing this with us. It has made me think about ways I can work more collaboratively with my current urologist and oncologist. They are both cis hetero men in their 30's, practicing in an educated, affluent suburban county. Even so, I find that I have to be proactive, assumptive, even aggressive with them when it comes to discussing sexual function and sexual side effects. They are willing and able to discuss these issues openly and competently, but I always have to initiate. Preparing my questions and discussion issues in advance helps me to focus on what I need to learn from them. They are good guys and highly competent professionals, but I am the client and they work for me.
