Targeted Biopsy

I live on the east coast of North Carolina. I’m looking for top choices of medical centers that conducts MRI targeted biopsies. I’ve been on active surveillance for 10 years but last three PSA tests have been rising. I’m currently being treated at Duke Medical but want to ensure best care for targeted biopsy.

Duke is excellent! Johns Hopkins has excellent radiologists.

For real time in-bore MRI guided targeted biopsy, try Dr. Dan Sperling (Delray Beach FL) or Dr. Busch (Atlanta GA). Both are highly experienced. Good luck!

I hope it helps. I did a lot of research and it appears that real-time MRI is more accurate than fusion-guided targeted biopsy. Also, in England they prefer transperineal targeted biopsy over transrectal. Best wishes for best outcomes.

After my MRi, which showed a Pi-rads 2 and 3, and having watched a Dr. Scholz video, I wanted a targeted biopsy. Spoke with UCLA. and was told they would do a 20-core biopsy, if not more. Decided on UCSF, and was lucky enough to get Dr. Shinohara. He did a 20-core trans-perineal biopsy that showed lots of 4+3 PCa bilaterally.

I believe that a targeted biopsy may well miss PCa and you will end up having to do another biopsy. My suggestion: find the best urologist around and follow his advice.

I had my sbrt treatment at Duke. Successful so far. They’ve been great.

Who is your urologist at Duke? Have you had biopsy at Duke? Thanks

Polascik was the Surgical Oncologist that performed my targeted biopsy, virtually painless. Lee is my radiation oncologist that performed sbrt. Hoimes was my medical oncologist that supervised adt treatment.
