Is creatine safe?

Hi all after 37 radiation sessions I started back on weight training 3 times a week.I was also on ADT for 24 months.I’m 70 and my Gleason scale was 8 my PSA is now totally ok.I finished ADT 9 months ago and am only just feeling glimmerings of libido.Does anyone have any knowledge as to if it’s safe to take creatine to boost my weight training programme.I don’t want to take anything that might encourage cancerous cells to return ?

If you're cured, there are no supplements that can reverse that.

What if you're not cured?

If you have tests that show you're not cured, you should have some kind of therapy.

Creatine works, and is harmless.

Thanks I’ll get some.Being on ADT for so long I’ve got out of shape even though weight training. In the past using creatine, weights and cardio I’ve lost fat and gained muscle - here goes.

Coggeshall,

The UCLA study is dated rather recently--October 2019. The link to the study is below between the lines--copy all the script between the lines.

More recently studies have shown that creatine may promote metastases. The link to the PUBMED article is below--the date is December 2021.

It may be best not to supplement with creatine.

If you have any trouble accessing these the links just type "creatine study for cancer" in your search bar. That is what I did.

My best to you,

Why bother with supplements? Just eat healthy. I'm 67 and just came off 18 months of Lupron. With 24 EBRT sessions and brachy. I lifted twice a week through it all, 1x a week with a trainer. I kept backcountry skiing, climbing, and mountain biking as I could. Six months post treatment T is coming back, feel more muscle definition, strength, and stamina. Back up to leading 10b outside.

Heads up on supplements - they are not regulated well and depending on where they are manufactured who the hell knows what is really in them.

Quick about turn here. After reading more replies that have doubts about creatine and supplements I won’t be taking it.Thanks for the help.

it works pretty well. I would just be real careful about dehydration. Just make sure you hydrate a lot. I say that from experience from passing out after a 38 hour fast and then a sweaty workout using creatine. even though I had something to eat, going out in the hot sun after all that had a negative effect on me in the mid summer Florida sun
