I have hemmoroidal prolapse and they are out and bleeding and painful...I also have my first IMRT radiation treatment today.!!!I am concerned since the hemmoroids are sticking out and bleeding that they will get burnt by the radiation or damaged in some way ???Should I wait until they are completely back in to the anus?Has anyone had this situation...all responses welcome..

I would think they would be safer outside the anus than inside. Any damage from radiaition would be inside the rectum. I had 27 sessions of IMRT and I believe it caused some internal damage as I get a small tinge of blood sometimes when I wipe. Nothing major.

Contact your RO ASAP. I think you may want to see a proctologist to get them taken care of before you have the radiation.

My husband mentioned haemorrhoids to the oncologist when discussing brachytherapy. His were not as severe, but he was concerned about the ultrasound probe as it had caused a flair up when having the biopsy. He was told to get them addressed before any treatment. Do discuss it with your RO.

Are you washing with lots of gentle soap back there after each bowel movement? Also push everything back in when washing.
