Has anyone here had an inguinal hernia repair after primary radiation (no surgery) for PCa? Any issues w/scarring from RT complicating the surgery?

Today’s RT specific to the prostate should be localized and directed specific enough not to interfere with inguinal hernia repair.

Anatomically an inguinal hernia isn’t where the radiation was applied to the prostate.

Of course you need to consult with the surgeon doing the hernia repair, and if the type of hernia surgery, open or laparoscopic is better after prostate RT.

Before I had SBRT I discussed this issue with radiation oncologists at UCLA and UCSF, and they both said it shouldn’t be an issue, because the proximity of the inguinal hernia and the prostate were not where the radiation was applied.

That being said, I have not had any inguinal hernia repair at this time because it does not bother me

I cannot emphasize enough that you need to discuss this with your radiation oncologist and surgeon who would perform the hernia repair, and also recommend getting second opinions
