Received my first Leupron dose (6 mo) in right hip in early September 2022. Pretty much zero side effects with the exception of light pain in right buttock cheek when I run, especially when moving uphill. When I finish running, the discomfort goes away.

Get a X-ray of your hip if you haven’t already, could be osteoarthritis.

How long have you been on Lupron?

Thanks for your reply.... Had Lupron Depot injections for 3 years, went for x-rays and MRI, bone scan and all came back negative...Still have burning sensations in the hips and have to take NSAIDS for the pain to be manageable...

Do whatever you can to keep moving. Great luck to you!

Do you know there's a social group on Facebook called "Victims of Lupron"? Yes, "Victims".

I was a member back when I was still using Facebook and there was a whole lot of upset people on there including myself. That stuff is terrible and should be banned except that having your testicles cut of are the other option. Talk about taking every little bit of your manhood away. I was glad when my 4 month shot wore off.

I had 18 months, 3 x 6 month shots. The injections weren't a problem. In addition to multiple side effects, at 16 months I had shooting hip pain - had to use a cane for a couple weeks, then the pain subsided. Regular knee and lower back pain. Among other issues. I am now at 20 months (2 months off) and starting to feel a little more normal. The only good news is psa is basically undetectable. So this is the torture versus cancer. It has been tough but it worked

Max24, It seems to be getting better. The nasty side effects seem to be slowly wearing off, slowly. The important part is that there is an effective action against PC. I do not say I'm cured. It is tough but you can get through this and live a good life. All the best.

Yes, I had that problem throughout much of the two years I was on Zoladex (similar to Lupron) and then for several months thereafter as the drug slowly left my system. I had little range of motion in my hips and couldn't cross my legs. I felt like I'd suddenly developed hip arthritis. My oncologist knew nothing about this side effect, despite many people in online forums like this reporting it. Physical therapy did not help. I recommend getting as much exercise as you can to maintain strength and flexibility and to improve mood. The hip soreness will likely subside once you've been off the drug for several months, possibly a year.

Also, just to be clear, the pain wasn't around the injection site, which in my case was a pinch of newfound belly fat. The pain was in both hip joints, so I felt this was a systemic reaction to the ADT medication.

thanks Jazzy53: I'm seeing a chiro/physio this morning to try a new approach to regaining my ability to do my 10k steps...perfect time of the year to do it no? I'll keep you in the loop.😉

This is the best layman's article on ADT side effects I've read -- an interview with Dr. Alicia Morgan of Vanderbilt. She acknowledges joint pain as one of the most significant side effects ADT, particularly in men who had even minor arthritic issues going into therapy: "Men often have aches and pains because altering testosterone also seems to uncover arthritis that may not have been such a problem before, but after we lower testosterone all of these aches and pains, especially in big joints, seem to come out."

I am on Eligard( Lupron) and I get all sorts of random pains in my joints as a side-effect. The come and go, sometimes after a 3 day visit to a particular joint.
