Hi, first visit with radiologist oncologist yesterday. I was quite encouraged. After- visit report: "Curable" "won't affect life expectancy" "Very small volume disease, quite favorable prostate cancer." He said there are 5 points that qualify me for "Active Surveillance" and said I meet 4 of them. Last point is result of Polaris genetic test "that determines how quickly the cancer is growing." Waiting for results now. Full diagnosis and treatment plan then. Stats: T1, Group 2, Gleason 3+4=7 in 5% of one of 12 biopsy samples - 9 of 12 no cancer, intermediate favorable. I'm not getting ahead of myself here but all this is good. Guarded optimism. Thx, Uncle Bud

Good news from RO
It's always a good idea to get a second opinion on your biopsy slides from Jonathan Epstein at Johns Hopkins. He is the Gold Standard.

I am a big fan of AS. It is a good idea to do it through a program and not try to do it yourself. All programs include a confirmatory mpMRI-targeted biopsy within a year.
Thanks, Tall Allen. I will definitely think about a second opinion on slides. And for Active Surveillance, I believe our health network has a program. But I will be sure to check if and when! Thanks, Uncle Bud
I am following your much appreciated advice after my biopsy on May 10th and receipt of results. I believe I read elsewhere that it isn’t guaranteed that Dr Epstein would be the one reviewing my slides (another pathologist at his lab perhaps?). Any thoughts or suggestions or am I overthinking this?

J-O-H-N hit the nail on the head. I thought of something similar when I first saw your post a couple days ago:" Have a nice life. Hope we never see you here again."
I second that . hope to resemble that remark!!!!
Your last post sounds encouraging and i can feel your confidence in your doctors.
